The Ilford & District Indoor Bowls Club Gala 2024 was another great success, thanks in large part to club manager Bob Hayter for putting the event together and to a number of members helping out with lunch, raffles, running the bar, making teas and coffes, and even managing logistics such as car parking.
The day’s competition ended in a tightly fought final with Mark Newman, Sandra Dupuy, Wendy Gray and Brian Powell winning for the third year, just beating Brian Kelly, Paula Nottage, Colin Foster and Debbie Jones in an extra end.
Special thanks go to Hills Lexus/Toyota for sponsoring the event, represented by Mark Banning (pictured below).
The day was also the opportunity for us to accept a donation of a second defibrillator, located at the opposite end of the bowling green, from our guests of honour Daniel Sugarman and Craig Sinclair from the Remedy Recruitment Group.
Finally, we were happy to have Colin Milner, a Disability Bowls England player, with us. Colin is going to South Africa as part of the international squad this summer, with help from IIBC sponsorhip.
Congratulations again to the winning team on the day, and to everyone involved in preparing and running the event, and clearing up afterwards.
Finally, this is a short video of the final prize presentations, featuring Sandy Dron and Bob Hayter:
