It was a tough day at the office, and away from the office, for Ilford yesterday, facing a Tilbury team that were in League One last season.
The away teams got off to a mixed start and by the midpoint the overall score was looking good for Ilford. However, a series of bad ends changed it far too quickly, and as the match drew to a close the gap had opened in the other direction.
The final result was one rink winning away, one at home, another draw at home, and Tilbury taking the overall total giving a final score of 8.5 points to Tilbury and 4.5 to Ilford.
Although we’re second in the league, it’s a somewhat flattering position as the three teams below us have a game in hand, after Southend pulled out of the competition, and with bottom placed Tilbury only 4 points below us it’s likely all three will overtake us when they play their last fixture.
Our next fixture is against Clacton on 2nd March.
